What you'll get

Violin lessons in Tricity and Łódź

Come join our one and only Kolorowe Struny violin school. We use the incredible Colourstrings method to teach kids of all ages and willing adults as well. We offer both individual and shared lessons, on a weekly basis, lasting 1 hour each. Your child can have their lessons in their after-school club, nursery or at home.

The Colourstrings Method

Kolorowe Struny (translated literally as “coloured strings”) is the first school in Tricity and Łódź where lessons are taught using the innovative Colourstrings method, which has been gaining in popularity around the world. This revolutionary method is based on learning by playing with colours, rhythm and melodies. It contains elements of Dalcroze Eurhythmics, which develops musical sensitivity, opening a child to the musical world at a very young age.

Teaching in English, Polish or both

Kolorowe Struny School has been built on over 8 years of experience in teaching violin to kids, teenagers and adults, as well as studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in the UK. We offer lessons in Polish, English and bilingually, at the highest level, without additional fees.

Why people love Kolorowe Struny

For the past two years, Karolina has been employed by City of Edinburgh Council as a violin tutor at the Saturday morning music school, Sounds like Saturday, funded by the Youth Music Initiative of Creative Scotland. During that time, she has taught P5-7 pupils (8-11 year olds) in groups of 5 or 6 with patience and good humor, and their performances at the end of term concerts have been impressive. Her students seem to enjoy the progress they make, and like her teaching style very much. Karolina is reliable and adaptable, is punctilious in letting me know in advance on the rare occasion that she has an engagement which clashes with her classes, and has been an exemplary employee. She has developed excellent relationships with pupils and colleagues and I am extremely sad that she is leaving. I would welcome her back to the post if she chose to return.

Karola showed great enthusiasm and was really creative in how she worked with all the members of the group. It was great having a teacher who challenged us, who encouraged us, and who gave us the opportunity to play lots of fun music.

Who I am

My name is Karolina Adamczewska, and I am a violin and viola teacher.

In 2011 I came to Scotland, where I studied classical viola and Scottish fiddle at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, obtaining a Bachelor of Music with Honours Degree in 2016. During those wonderful 4 years I played in orchestras and I participated in masterclasses with worldwide known violinists and violists. In 2015 I played a solo concert during the famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2013 I won the 1st place in the “Watson Forbes Viola Competition”.

I’m passionate about traditional Scottish music. For several years I played regularly at weddings, where traditionally dressed guests danced to Scottish tunes.

After I finished my studies I started teaching children, teenagers and adults, which brought me a lot of joy. I was working in a private music school, teaching kids individually and in groups. I was employed by the City of Edinburgh Council to teach a group of adults as part of the “Adult Education Programme”. I also taught children from the “Youth Music Initiative” organization, which provided free musical education for underprivilidged children. I was also teaching for the famous “Sistema Scotland”, which focused on children from poor and deprived areas. I also had several private students whom I successfully prepared for the ABRSM exams, which they passed with Merit or Distinction each time. In total, I had over 60 students each week.

Even more love

Violin is not an easy instrument, but Colourstrings is so well thought out, and Karolina was always cheerful and patient and completely professional. Colourstrings is designed primarily for children, but it is so bullet-proof and so very thorough that learner of all ages can find it great. Karolina helped me make a beautiful sound right from the start, and she has always been encouraging about my progress. The Colourstrings progression is always musical and always beautiful. I know Karolina is really serious about doing the Colourstrings training herself, and always wants to keep herself updated. I can highly recommend both Colourstrings and Karolina for violinists of all ages.

Karolina is a very patient and thorough teacher who includes both technique and theory as we learn. She consolidates learning by providing suitable practice material for home study as well as practical instruction on tuning the instrument and obtaining the best strings. She also recognises the importance of performance and encouraged each student to perform a piece at the end of each term. At present we are learning how to play together as an ensemble, the most important skill here being able to listen to each other. I can recommend Karolina both to introduce you to the joys and challenges of learning the violin and to develop your skillset to a higher level.

I really enjoyed my lessons with Karolina. I have particularly appreciated how she adapted lessons to suit my needs, always looking for different ways to teach a technique that would work best for me. We have used ‘traditional’ teaching methods and Colourstrings, both of which have given me a solid foundation on which to build. I liked her focus on intonation, and my ear has developed considerably. I also struggled with keeping time, but with Karolina’s help, I have really improved! Karolina is an enthusiastic teacher, who really cares about her pupils’ development, and her patient teaching has nurtured in me a deep love of learning violin.

Teraz dzięki jej inspiracji gram prawie codziennie. Gorąco polecam Karolinę jako nauczycielkę.

Karolina has always been very pleasant and is very honest in her feedback. One comment sticks in my mind - "If you keep practicing you won’t get any worse". She arrives punctually and has always prepared in advance. Her lessons are varied and in addition to scales, group pieces and duets we were stretched by other activities such as composition and musical dictation. I can definitely recommend Karolina as a teacher.

Karolina is a very competent teacher of violin. She is professional in her approach, but friendly with it, willing to discuss individuals' questions on technique and style and to demonstrate effectively. Her lessons developed my general musicality and helped me to play with greater confidence.
